If i was to play blackjack in Las Vegas just like on the movie 21?

what type of blackjack are they playing in that movie? is most blackjack dealt face up. how many decks are in a shoe?

    6-8 decks in a shoe but good luck doing what they do in the movies for one its a movie and two if u get caught ur gonna get thrown out and barred from playing blackjack and black listed, but hey if u wanna try it then knock urself out

    If you recall, in the movie 21, they played as a team. The system doesn’t work when playing by yourself.

    The problem is it might be quite a long time before the deck ever gets hot enough to give you a reasonable edge. The rest of the time you are having to bet the table minimum knowing that you are playing against a house edge. Then if the count gets high you suddenly need to start betting big, immediately alerting security that you are counting.

    Unlike the movie, you won’t get beaten up. In fact they will probably give you a chance to screw yourself. But if you start to win a lot, don’t be surprised if you get kicked off the table or out of the casino.

    Consider too that the movie was shot in several real casinos, not in a studio. Do you imagine that if casinos were at all worried about card counting, they would have allowed the movie to be shot in their casinos?

    Truth is, casinos love card counters. It is so hard to get it spot on, there is so much more variance, it just isn’t as easy as the movie makes it look.

    Keep in mind that although the movie glosses over this a little bit. The real MIT team practiced for months before pulling off their wins. It took some brilliant minds a long time to get it to work. And this was back in the day when casinos were a lot less savvy about card counting.

    They are playing regular blackjack with 6 to 8 decks of cards. In most casinos, the cards are dealt face up to the players and one up, one down for the dealer, which is standard practice. There are some casinos where all cards are dealt face up including the dealers. The MAJOR difference is the odds. They’re worse than playing standard blackjack. Also, some casinos also offer single deck blackjack too. Again the odds are worse. Important: if casino security suspects that you are card counting (cheating), they can and will ask you to leave or remove you from the premises if needed.

    Blackjack variations include two cards dealt face up to the player in 6-8 deck shoe multiple deck games and two cards dealt face down to the player in single deck games.

    The movie is based on an incident from years ago, and the casinos have changed many of the rules since the, making blackjack card counting less profitable and more difficult.
